What's new in Version 4?
Version 4 is the largest step, which the software has ever made. We have implemented many ideas and suggestions so that a fundamental renewed and strongly enhanced software has emerged:
New Design
The creation of the previous versions was done by integrating new functions to the already existing windows. The programme has also to some extent grown: ever more buttons, lists and instructions have been integrated by the course of time. Although the familiar appearance has been retained, but clearness and the common image are no longer in accordance with the up-to-date level of the art of programming.
Therefore we have decided to make a radical re-design with the Version 4. The user interface is a central toolbar which always is hovering in the foreground and originating from it the several windows are accessed. This is firstly more clearly arranged, secondly it is adequate to the claims of our customers, which are in many cases have their professional home within the area of design. Thirdly the new modular systems allows always more modules in the future within the existing structure.
50 new colour systems
Numerous colour systems are added amoung not only so exotic names like AL-JAZEERA from Saudi Arabien (which can be traced back to a software development for AL-JAZEERA) but also the second version of the ALSECCO systems, FAUST Color Mix (Praktiker), Thyssen-Krupp ReflectionsOne and other.
RGB table as a colour system
Also in the previous version it was able to integrate own colour tables as new colour systems: Who has
colour data in the lab-format ? Therefore you have now the possibility to include RGB colour lists with all functions. This is extremely practical and opens up all kinds of applications for your own colour tones. Calculate colours for comparison and symphonies, show the RGB-colours in 3D and much more
– shortly: Do everything with your own colour lists what is able within the DIGITAL COLOUR ATLAS.
Colour harmony now also on CMYK base
The colour harmony window offer all harmony calculations in CMYK now. This is important for the pre-press!

What is complementary supplementing CMYK 0 90 100 20?
Calculation of colour changes
The windows for the colour harmony now offers also the calculation of an unlimited number of colours between two colour tones. This calculation is also made, like all calculations for colour harmony on the CIELAB base and is therefore much better, because being more oriented on the sensation, than only calculating the steps between the colours by the RGB-,CMYK- ord HSB colour values.

Which colour tones are between two others ?
This calculation is available for all colour systems and colour models..
Highly enhanced printed CMYK colour atlas, highly enhanced CMYK-data base
Also the atlas which has been delivered with the software had a good print quality so far. But it had disadvantages which are corrected with the now included atlas:

The quality of the measurend and
included CMYK atlas is decisive for the quality of further areas of the DIGITAL
COLOUR ATLAS.
We don't produce the new book ourselfes, but we purchase it from the Repro-qualified
company satzinform.
Consistentes result for CMYK > Farbe > CMYK]
In the past we haven't admitted on thing not gladly: Calculations of the type CMYK-->colour-->CMYK
didn't result in the original-CMYK.Reason: The CMYK-data base for calculcations of the type colour --> CMYK was extracted from the delivered atlas. The database for calculations CMYK --> Comparison colour was not extracted from the delivered atlas due to the fact that it had too much gaps for that. This is different now.
The attached atlas (handinhandbuch cmyk) doesn't have any cavities, but it includes the complete CMYK-colour area and can be used for all CMYK specifications. A calculation of the type CMYK-->colour ->CMYK now results in the original-CMYK.
Next Colours: CMYK with and without blacki
Whereas grey components for production prints have to be printed for saving costs and reason of the stability of the colour including black (achromatic composition) it is offen desired for as natural colours as possible to print them without a fraction of black. The button „generation of black“ enables both alternatives.
Next Colours: now also comparative lists system> system
By using the button „Compare all colours“ you are able to generate complete comparision lists between colour systems: „How are the HKS 3000 plus equivalences for all RAL colours?“„ Which are the correct ORAFOL-foils for all Brillux paints?“. The result is written with the respective assesmennt of the compatibility to a text file.
So far a complete comparison was only possible in the direction „All colours in CMYK“ or „All colours in RGB“
Colour Range: Containment of partly areas within colour systems
In the case of large colour systems it is often difficult to keep the overview. In trueness one works only with small fractional parts of the whole, e.g. the pastel scale. With the new window colour area you now have the possibility to limit a specific part within the colour system due to the colour tone, brightness and saturation and to save it as new colour system.
Practically: You define the for you decisive colours from a colour system.
3D Colour Space: Navigation through the 3D colour space
You can have a glimpse to the future of the colour design on the PC. The three dimensional display enables a previousely unknown dimension of clarity, also in the case of large colour systems. by a 3D-navigation, effectively as „space traveller“ you can analyze the colour areas, choose colours, see symphonies, and show frontiers, deficits and advantages of colour systems.
The tool is impressive and it answers in a less direct way, but much deeper the practical questions of painters, people employed in printing and architects because it enables an easy to understand intuitive recognition of a colour systematic. The theory of colour symphinies is clear at the first glimpse without long explanations. Cavities and clusters in colour systems can be seen instantly one detects the possibilities. The window causes learning effects, which are for the sake of the use of colours in your daily tasks.
Pdf-colour atlas for the pastel scale
Additionally to the four PDF-files which are completely covering the RGB- and CMYK colour area (in each case as singular pages and in the type of mounted printed sheets) we deliver further pdf-Data, which run through the pastel scale with small RGB-step intervals. This finer decomposition is necessary due to the fact that our eye is by far more sensitive for colour deviations than in darker areas. With other words: A change of the „red value“ of 5 has a significant impact for very bright colours but not for dark colours.
With this file you can match bright colour tones at the own printer.

Highly enhanced pdf Test files
Now the test files are available for all colour systems. They contain all systems of the respective system in a sRGB optimized way.
It's new that the colours have been summarized in a clearly arranged way in standard size.Smaller colour systems are prepared in the DIN A4 size, larger systems on one or several A3 pages. PDF files are able to be scaled in any size, they are able to be printed in a very good way and can be filed away or as large format colour reference tacked to the wall.
With that the user has a clearly arranged and very cheap colour reference for all supported colour systems. The pdf-colours have been generated as sRGB in the best possible way from the spectral data, the correctness of the colour fields in the displaying mode on the monitor or the printer is good but naturally not comparable with the original colour samples of the manufacturers.
